🌿"My work has a tendency to make you question what you are looking at, if only for a second. In "orchid", the viewer is attempting to look through various petals of one orchid to see the orchid behind it. The image is not immediately clear until the eye circumvents the image and finally focuses on the back petal. Similarly in reflection and lilypad, the clouds in one, and the ceiling of the conservatory in the other, the eye is tricked as to which way is up and which is down."

Catalina Aranguren
@caranguren
Catalina was born in Colombia, raised in Venezuela. She studied at the International School. Her childhood was a constant wavering between languages, cultures, third and first worlds. She graduated from SAIC with a semester in Speos Paris. She is a latinx woman, immigrant, and artist based in NJ. Her work is in private collections in various countries. She is currently raising three bilingual, bicultural, biracial and bustling boys with her husband and her giant dog.
A paper with the word "me" is cut from a large brown craft paper, except for the bottom edge, when folded down it reads "we". A video is shot from close and then the camera goes up and you see the page still on the ground surrounded by trees and other houses.
